چکیده

Detecting the onset of structural damage and its progressive evolution is crucial for assessment maintenance built environment. This paper describes application a computer-vision-based methodology health monitoring to shake table investigation. Three rubble stone masonry walls, one unreinforced two reinforced, were tested under natural earthquake base inputs, progressively scaled up collapse. White noise signals also applied dynamic identification purposes. Throughout experiments, videos recorded, both white excitation environmental vibrations, with at rest. The preprocessed motion magnification algorithms analyzed through principal component analysis. frequencies walls detected their decay was associated accumulation. Results agreed those obtained from another measurement system available in laboratory consistent crack pattern development surveyed during tests. proposed approach proved useful derive information on deterioration properties, showing feasibility this real field applications.

Human Computer Interaction Using Vision-Based Hand Gesture Recognition

With the rapid emergence of 3D applications and virtual environments in computer systems; the need for a new type of interaction device arises. This is because the traditional devices such as mouse, keyboard, and joystick become inefficient and cumbersome within these virtual environments. In other words, evolution of user interfaces shapes the change in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). In...

DAMAGE IDENTIFICATION IN STRUCTURES USING TIME DOMAIN RESPONSES BASED ON DIFFERENTIAL EVOLUTION ALGORITHM

An effective method utilizing the differential evolution algorithm (DEA) as an optimisation solver is suggested here to detect the location and extent of single and multiple damages in structural systems using time domain response method. Changes in acceleration response of structure are considered as a criterion for damage occurrence. The acceleration of structures is obtained using Newmark me...

Artistic ideation based on computer vision methods

This paper analyzes the automatic classification of scenes that are the basis of the ideation and the designing of the sculptural production of an artist. The main purpose is to evaluate the performance of the Bag-of-Features methods, in the challenging task of categorizing scenes when scenes differ in semantics rather than the objects they contain. We have employed a kernel-based recognition m...

Construction and Retrofit Methods of Stone Masonry Structures in Cyprus

Natural stone is a durable construction material which has been used through centuries for various types of structures. These structures are exposed to corrosive and degradation factors such as climate change and pollution, natural ageing, earthquake actions, increasing urbanization and even human negligence, potentially exposing them to irreversible structural damage and loss. Considering the ...
